Studies show that nature and its vital contributions to our way of life are deteriorating at an alarming rate globally. As an issue that affects us all, it's critical to take concerted action to halt the loss of biodiversity.

Performance

We have been implementing good environmental, social and ethical practices throughout the value chain that have translated into concrete results, namely through the Continente Producers Club, a platform that aims to strengthen the offer of more sustainable national products. We continue to use the Traffic Light System (TLS), a tool that makes it possible to evaluate purchases according to the level of sustainability of fisheries, which allows priority to be given to Suppliers that use fishing methods with less impact on marine biodiversity.

Continente Producers Club

Promotion of more sustainable supply networks

With over 22 years of activity, the Continente Producers Club (CPC) continues to grow and gain relevance among the primary sector. With more than 256 members, the Club is an important platform for raising awareness, training and for national producers and an action plan aligned with the European Strategy for Meadow to the Plate. To this end, the Club has been working with producers on pilot projects, proofs of concept and certifications that aim to accelerate the change in production methods:

Productive Oceans

Aware of the importance of the sustainable management of marine resources, the MC has been implementing various measures aimed at minimising the impacts of fishing activities on marine biodiversity and promoting the adoption of sustainable fishing practices, taking into consideration a set of principles of action that encourage the protection of ecosystems. These measures for the protection of natural ecosystems are based on the Fishing Sustainability Policy, in force since 2010.

An important part of our strategy is to identify critical raw materials for our operations and implement procedures to ensure agricultural production and responsible sourcing. We work with recognised external organisations and have set ambitious targets for the certification of the origin of raw materials used in the development of own-brand products.
