Missão Continente joins the Food Bank Against Hunger

From May 22nd to the 31st, you can contribute to the usual food donation to the Food Banks Against Hunger in Continente, Continente Modelo, Continente Bom Dia stores across the country as well as on Continente Online. Because the pandemic context does not allow the presence of volunteers in stores, it was necessary to find a less traditional dynamic - through food vouchers - so that each one can help those who need it the most.

At Continente stores, the acrylic barriers that were installed on cashier lines to protect employees and customers, were used to place cards that illustrate the six products available for immediate donation: olive oil, cooking oil, milk, tuna, rice and beans.
Upon payment, customers indicate which and how many products they want to donate; cashiers will have a "key chain" available with vouchers representative of the products with an associated bar code, which only has to be scanned by the cashier - an innovative solution designed exclusively for Continente stores. The item enters the shopping receipt, without the need to handle the food.

For the first time, and in a period when online shopping has gained more users than ever before, Continente Online also joins the campaign. On the website, through a direct link, just select the products for donation and follow the usual payment process.

All items will be delivered directly by Continente to the Food Bank’s warehouses.

Under the motto “Help fill this void”, the Food Bank campaign sensitizes the Portuguese to fill the void of the many families that are affected by daily food shortage scenarios, a situation now worsened, reinforcing the importance of the contribution and involvement of each one. Until the end of the month, it is also possible to contribute to Food Banks Against Hunger through “Ajuda Vale” at the supermarket checkouts and / or the online donation portal at alimentestaideia.pt.

Missão Continente’s actions reflect the intrinsic relationship that the brand has been developing with the communities in which it operates. At this moment, more than ever, Missão Continente wants to be with the Portuguese families, thanking them for their trust, for over more than three decades.

Since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic in Portugal, Missão Continente continues to express its support, through several institutions, to the most vulnerable populations as well as to Health Professionals and Security Forces.

Food Distribution has been identified as a critical service by the Government and Sonae MC is aware of its responsibility towards the country, following the guidelines of the General Health Directorate and the Ministry of Economy, to continue to #Alimentar Portugal (Feed Portugal).
