Martim Moniz Square welcomes new Continente Bom Dia

Martim Moniz Square, in Lisbon, has, as of today, a new Continente Bom Dia store that guarantees all safety rules to protect both customers and employees, such as limiting customers’ entry in the store, acrylic protection barriers in cashiers, markings to guarantee distancing between customers and mandatory use of protective masks upon entry.

This new proximity store, located in the Hotel Mundial’s building, also has a Fruit and Vegetable area which is 100% free of disposable plastic. It is the brand’s second store in Lisbon to adopt the single-use-plastic free policy, following Alta de Lisboa’s Continente Modelo.

As an alternative to single-use plastic bags, the new Continente Bom Dia store’s customers will be able to use, in the Fruits and Vegetables section, paper bags (which support up to 2.5 kg) available free of charge, reusable and washable cotton bags (€ 3 / unit) or polyester bags (€ 1.50 / two unit pack), or bring their own bags from home. Also noteworthy is the fact that, in this specific space, there is no food packaged in plastic.

Continente's commitment is to anticipate, by 2025, the ambition defined by the European Union for 2030, reducing (or even eliminating when possible) the use of plastic materials of fossil origin, with regard to our own brand’s products, ensuring that they all have reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging.

The new Continente Bom Dia store is focused on promoting comfort, ease and convenience of purchase among people who go through Martim Moniz Square on a daily basis, offering a range with thousands of products, including Continente’s own brand and the brands that usually make up the shopping basket of choice for the Portuguese. This opening reinforces the brand’s bet in the district of Lisbon, which now has 60 Continente spaces.

This opening is highlighted with a 10% discount on Continente Card campaign, across the entire store, between May 13th and 17th.

Food Distribution has been identified as a critical service by the Government and Sonae MC is aware of its responsibility towards the country. Sonae MC's priority is to always guarantee the safety of both Customers and Employees, following the guidelines of the General Health Directorate and the Ministry of Economy, to continue to Alimentar Portugal (Feed Portugal).
